Accion San Diego Welcomes New Board Member
Accion San Diego, a nonprofit micro-lender offering business loans from $300 to $35,000, welcomed a new member to its board of directors, Stacey Kartchner, an attorney at the Law Office of Stacey A. Kartchner.
Kartchner is an entrepreneur practicing criminal defense law, published author, and active member of the community. As a criminal defense lawyer, Kartchner has been recognized for her dedication to protecting the rights, liberties, and interests of her clients. In 2009, she was nominated by her peers as one of the Top Young Attorneys in San Diego.
“We are excited to have Ms. Kartchner join our team and thrilled that she brings passion for our mission, in addition to insightful entrepreneurial experience of running her own business,” said Elizabeth Schott, Executive Director.
Kartchner is passionate about Accion’s mission to create increased income and access to jobs for primarily low-to-moderate income, self-employed men and women by providing small loans and business support services.
“When I heard about Accion San Diego and all of the lives they have touched, I wanted to be a part of that special community,” said Kartchner. “Together with the Accion San Diego team, I look forward to empowering entrepreneurs with the tools and support they need to be successful in building their incomes, businesses, and creating jobs in San Diego.”
In addition, Kartchner serves the community through volunteer efforts and membership in numerous associations. Kartchner previously served on the board of The Foundation for Women, a San Diego non-profit that provides microcredit to women, and she developed a commitment to financial inclusion for all in San Diego. Kartchner is also the president-elect of the Criminal Defense Bar Association and the executive director of the Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Club. For more than 10 years prior to opening her own practice, Kartchner represented clients as an associate attorney at the law firm of Grimes & Warwick.
