ACCION San Diego in the Community

ACCION San Diego is committed to an integrated approach to the community and works with strategic partners in local government, community-based agencies, corporations and banks. These collaborative efforts enable us to maximize resources, minimize duplication of services and provide the most effective tools ensuring our clients’ success. Consumer Credit Counseling Service

ACCION San Diego has a partnership with Consumer Credit Counseling Service to assist small business owners with financial management and credit counseling.  Consumer Credit Counseling was established in 1974 by a local community team to help people learn to manage their debt problems and to offer a simple, effective alternative to bankruptcy. They have over 40 locations in California and do not charge for counseling or room education services. The also offer debt management services for a fee. (866) 889-9347.


Diamond Business Improvement District

A partnership between the Diamond Business Improvement District (DBID) and ACCIONSan Diego provides members of the DBID a unique micro-loan program. DBID and ACCION will pre-screen applicants pertinent to needs, credit and qualification.  Applicants will then attend an in-depth technical assistance program through the DBID and be eligible for a low-interest loan through ACCION, with funding provided by a private foundation. 

Foundation for Women

In partnership with the Foundation for Women, ACCION San Diego is working to offer refugee and immigrant women business opportunity through lending, training and support initiatives, while also helping them to build favorable credit histories.

International Rescue Committee

ACCION San Diego has developed a partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and San Diego National Bank in order to provide refugees living in San Diego with business training and credit. Refugees from various countries are now able to receive start-up loans after attending a ten-week business training course offered by the IRC.

Jacobs Family Foundation

ACCION San Diego continues to expand their partnership with the Jacobs Family Foundation, which operates Market Creek Plaza in southeastern San Diego.  Together we work to provide business services and funding to micro-entrepreneurs throughout the surrounding community of the Market Creek Plaza.

Small Business Development and International Trade Center

The Small Business Development and International Trade Center works in partnership with ACCION San Diego to provide one-on-one business counseling to ACCION’s clients. The Center’s services include counseling, seminars and training, information and referral resources, import/export assistance, procurement assistance and other business resources. These services are available to all business owners at no cost to help meet their goals in a global market.

Southwestern College Family Resource Center

The Southwestern College Family Resource Center and ACCION San Diego have formed a cooperative partnership to provide training and start-up capital to home-based, daycare providers.  The Southwestern College Family Resource Center will provide a 9-week (93-hour) training curriculum through their Microenterprise Family Child Care Training Program located at the Higher Education Center in National City.   Once the clientele have completed the training program and have a basic business plan, ACCION San Diego will provide start-up loans ranging from $300 to $5,000, given that the clientele meets required qualifications.

Women’s Business Center of California

The Women’s Business Center of California and ACCION San Diego work together on a referral basis to aid clients in need of business training and/or business financing. This referral program ensures that small business owners have access to community resources and funding to facilitate business development.
