Marketing & PR Intern

Position Details:

Job Responsibilities:  Under the supervision of the Marketing and Resource Manager, the Marketing & PR Intern will be responsible for contributing to internal/external marketing and public relations efforts through: managing social media; writing thought-provoking newsletter articles, blog posts, and press releases; creating flyers and newsletters in Publisher; writing press releases; interviewing/taping clients and small business owners for promotional footage; aiding with event planning through logistical planning, promotional efforts, and day of execution; and occasionally assisting in the coordination of and communication with clients and volunteers as need may arise.  If you would like a quality experience in all aspects of marketing, then this internship is for you.

Time commitment:  12-15 hours/week during business hours, will work around school schedules

Duration: Winter/Spring 2012, from the end of Jan. through June 30th

Location: Most duties will require presence at ACCION’s office, while some will require local travel

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship

Desired Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or graduate student
• Availability for 6-month internship (Jan-June) during regular business hours
• Understanding of microfinance and demonstrated interest and passion in the field
• Must have excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication abilities
• Must demonstrate superb attention to detail in designing page layouts, event planning, and executing tasks
• Proven knowledge and experience in marketing strategy, branding, and PR
• Understanding of email marketing and ability to learn promotional systems quickly is a plus.
• Must have ability to take on projects independently and be pro-active in creative thinking
• Must demonstrate proficiency in Word, Excel, Publisher, and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Blog sites, etc.
